Deer Creek Trailhead No. 45

The Wild Cattle!!!

This week has been BIG in our house. Jake's parents were visiting from Michigan, we mailed our invites, Becky is finishing wedding programs and the cake topper tomorrow, the bridesmaids dresses came in, and today we took the dogs on a long hike.

Pups in the water!

We set out in the morning for the vet for Cyrus' annual exam, then we headed up north to go hiking at an old mining camp which is now a ghost town. Our plans were thwarted when the road was under construction and we couldn't get to the trailhead. So we kept driving and found another trail we decided to try. There was 1 other car at the trailhead so we knew it would be nice for the dogs. We started up the trail and and noticed a cattle in the distance-so we got as close as we could and noticed maybe 8 or 10 cattle. It was very cool to be that close to wild cattle! We kept hiking and eventually walked into the valley which had water in it-rare for AZ! The dogs had a blast playing in the creek! Riddick loves water-we knew that from the MI lakes, but Cy has never encountered open water, and he was so funny in it! He walked all funny like he wasn't quite sure what he was doing there, all while riddick was trying to bite the moving water, putting her head under water and finding the deepest areas! Both dogs had a ton of fun in the water! We then headed back up and saw lots of lizards, one more cattle, and no other hikers!
