Travel with Hybrid Diapers!

As the story goes, it was our 1st trip away and I was leary using disposables since he always has blowouts in them. And since we have several trips coming up I also wanted to find a great solution!
I have 2 Flip diapers but they always leak so I didn't want to go that route. I looked at different options and the Grovia shells were on sale so I purchased 5 of them, we were going to be away for 4 days.

Flip Inserts

GDiaper Inserts

The Flip Inserts were softer than the GDiaper Inserts. But the GDiaper inserts are definitely larger.  I decided to use the GDiaper Inserts because they had more coverage.

When I put them on the first time I was super careful to tuck everything in before I put the diaper on. That was very challenging with my wiggler! And it did cause seepage onto the cover because there was a space between the insert and cover. The next time I decided to just lay the insert in and fasten the diaper quickly. Which results in the insert hanging out of the diaper around the leg gussets, up the front and out the back. So then I just took my finger and tucked in. Success!

Inserts are hanging out, just tuck in with finger

During our trip I did rotate the covers out. One cover did get poop on it, I washed it out in the tub with cold water then hung to dry. I put the dirty one in the wetbag and took home to wash. My child poops at least 2-4 times/day, so one leak wasn't bad! And even though it leaked on the shell, it all stained contained INSIDE the shell, nothing on his clothes (or me).

I would recommend the Grovia shells for travelling. I didn't have a problem with the GDiaper inserts, however I am going to buy some Grovia inserts to test out. I hear they have sticky tabs on the back, which would be helpful for the wiggly babies. But the coverage is most important to me!
