This morning I determined I needed to do some Vinyasa and reflect on my Saturday race. I am very happy that this was my decision, it has really helped. I feel much better now and am thinking tomorrow I will do a short run and then Vinyasa again. It was what my body needed at this time.

My race on Saturday was not what I had anticipated. My race on Saturday was less than stellar and I have been depressed about it ever since. Have you ever had a race like that? I keep telling myself I am over it, but I am not. I am getting over it is the better statement. I had great runs all week and was expecting to PR. Well I didn't. I woke up, ate my oatmeal and was waiting for Amy to get to my house. We had discussed meeting between 9-9:15, the race began at 10 and was within 5 minutes from my house. Well I realized it was 9:24 and she still wasn't there, I get a text saying traffic was really bad. The next text was "where did you park?". And then Oh, She Is There. What, what?!?!! I grabbed all my stuff and jumped in my car! And I was worried I wasn't going to find her, how do you find 1 person in the sea of 1600 runners plus spectators! Luckily we found each other, but my stomach was uneasy. About mile 2, I told Amy to go on without me, there was the debate, "are you sure?", "yes" and I sent her on her way. I seriously considered dropping out 16 times during the race. The thing was, my mind was there, my legs were there, my tummy was not there. The uneasiness was SOOO great, it was unbelievable, I have never felt that way for a race before. Around 5k I took a Clif Block, more to ease my stomach than anything, and I took one at 6k and 7k too. Needless to say I jogged when I could and briskly walked when I felt jogging was too much. I am so disappointed in the way my body treated me for the race. However once it was over and I had guzzled a Mt Dew, I know it's not the greatest choice but it's seriously my special treat, and I ate an orange or 2, and I felt FINE. I think my blood sugar was low for some odd reason. I finished in 1:38:23, which was a 13:12 pace. I am just happy that I finished without my oatmeal coming up!
So I am throwing this race out of the books for 2010 and will find another to set the PR. I am currently looking at 2011 races because I am getting serious and am setting my sights high. I want to complete a full marathon, which means much more training than before! But I am going to conquer 2011!
